Mrs. Hsu

Sha Li Hsu has been part of Community Roots Academy since its first year. She has enjoyed building lifelong friendships and learning partners with both educators and families at our school. Sha Li started her experience with education in high school while tutoring English Language Learners her senior year. After high school, she graduated from the University of California, Riverside with a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Philosophy. Through her education Sha Li became fascinated with child and brain development with plans to join the field of child psychology and special education. To gain experience before graduate school, Sha Li took on the role of Title I Instructional Assistant for Irvine Unified School District where she provided reading and math intervention for 7th and 8th grade middle school students that faced academic challenges their entire school career. It was through her work with these students that she realized her passion for teaching and instilling the joy for learning. Sha Li continued to receive her Masters of Arts and Teaching Credential from Chapman University. Her thesis focused on re-kindling the motivation for reading in middle school students. Since then she has been a part of Community Roots Academy. As an educator and a parent, Sha Li embraces the whole child with the firm belief that meaningful learning will naturally occur when a child feels safe, loved, and cherished in a classroom.

When Sha Li is not in the classroom she is spending her time with her husband and two beautiful, active children. Together they fill their time with books, imaginative play, and outdoor fun.
