Mrs. Igarashi is a fourth grade teacher at Community Roots Academy. She previously taught 5th grade and 2nd grade at CRA, and prior to that worked at a local nature preserve where she led outdoor hikes and managed science-based field trips. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Japanese Language and Literature from the University of Colorado, and her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of California, Irvine.
Mrs. Igarashi has always loved the outdoors, and she enjoys sharing her knowledge about the natural world with students. Her classroom has a positive, supportive atmosphere where children feel safe to take risks as they collaborate, innovate, problem-solve and make discoveries. She enjoys teaching all subjects, especially science, and is a Tier 1 NGSS Certified Educator. She also enjoys teaching her students Japanese for fun.
When she’s not teaching, Mrs. Igarashi loves to travel, go hiking and especially enjoys playing volleyball.
