What is Annual Giving?
At CRA we limit fundraising to just three initiatives per year. This keeps our scholars focused on learning, and it means we don't have to constantly ask our parent community for financial support. Annual Giving is your opportunity as a member of our parent and grandparent community to sustain what makes this school extraordinary: the learning itself.
What Does My Donation Support?
At Community Roots Academy, our project-based learning (PBL) approach encourages students to think critically, solve real-world problems, collaborate with their peers, and take ownership of their learning. It's a model that prepares students not only for future academic success, but for life beyond the classroom.
That learning is enriched by experiences unique to CRA, including our Discover Garden, where every student builds a hands-on connection with nature, along with specialty programs in art, music, and physical education. These programs are at the heart of what makes CRA special, and they are made possible through the generosity of our community.
As a public charter school, CRA receives state funding but covers costs like our facility lease and campus services out of pocket, expenses standard public schools do not have. Annual Giving is how our community bridges that gap, so every dollar of our operating budget can stay focused on our scholars.
How Much Should I Give?
This year's suggested donation is $750 per family. Your gift can be made all at once or spread out in equal monthly payments through June 2027, whatever works best for your family.
Annual Giving is always voluntary, and we are grateful for donations of any amount. While $750 is our suggested contribution, our greatest goal is 100% family participation. Every gift, no matter the size, demonstrates your commitment to our school community and helps ensure these experiences continue for all of our students.
Families giving $750 or more can also choose optional add-on gifts of $250 that directly support the Discover Garden, Roots Athletics, or our Performing and Visual Arts programs. And don't forget: many employers match charitable donations dollar for dollar. You'll find everything you need to submit a match request on our donation page.
