Our vision at Community Seedlings is to offer children a space in which to explore their interests that is rich with opportunities, so that they can examine the world around them in as much depth as they desire, supported by adults who see childhood as a unique time to lay a foundation for a lifetime of learning.

Mission

Serving as co-researchers, the educators and staff of Community Seedlings seek to support the curiosity and excitement for learning that is inherent in every child. They recognize and honor children’s natural quest to understand their place in the world around them. This is learned through play, small group projects, dialogue, journaling, reflection, and documentation of children’s work. The love of learning begins through exploration of many media: art, STEM work, math, social studies, literacy, and the environments of both the indoor and outdoor classrooms.

Philosophy

Our environments and learning philosophies draw their inspiration from the municipal schools of Reggio Emilia, Italy. Our teachers are experienced and educated in Reggio philosophy. We are grounded in Social Constructivist theories of learning, and subscribe to the vision of the Children and Nature Network in advocating for a world in which all children play, learn and grow with nature in their everyday lives.
